Powerball Changes - 2012
After two decades of success and being the most popular lottery game in North America, Powerball is poised to turn 20 years old in 2012 and with the anniversary celebration comes better odds of winning and updates to the game.
MORE MILLIONAIRES: Anyone who matches 5 numbers, but not the Powerball will win $1,000,000!
BIGGER STARTING JACKPOTS: When the Powerball jackpot gets hit, the new starting jackpot will be $40 MILLION!
BETTER ODDS: The overall odds of winning any prize will improve from 1:35.1 to 1:31.8 and the odds of winning the jackpot will improve to 1 in 175 million.

NEW PRICE: The price of a single Powerball ticket will move from $1 to $2 per play.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Powerball players will select from a field of 35 red numbers, a reduction of four numbers. The white balls (59) will remain the same.

Payment: You have 60 days after you claim the jackpot to determine if you want the cash or the annuity option. If you choose the annuity option you will receive your prize over 29 years (30 payments). The jackpot is pari-mutuel. You win other cash prizes when you correctly match other Powerball numbers drawn. Prizes must be claimed within 180 days from the date of the drawing. All prizes for Powerball must be claimed in the state where the ticket was purchased.
