Idaho Falls Schools Rolling in Dough Thanks to Lottery´s Scratch for Schools!! 

Boise – They were itching to scratch. The excitement could be felt in the air on Saturday, May 10, 2003, as representatives from eighteen Idaho schools in the greater Idaho Falls area participated in the Idaho Lottery’s Scratch for Schools program at the Red Lion Hotel in Idaho Falls. 

During the five-minute round of mad scratching, the schools uncovered nearly $1,800 on the tickets. Each school is given 300 scratch tickets and gets to keep all of the money they uncover. They also get to take back the unscratched tickets. The team that scratches the most tickets in five minutes gets 1,000 extra tickets. The team that scratches off the highest total dollar amount also receives 1,000 extra tickets. 

William Thomas Middle School received the prize for highest total amount, $144. Firth High School and North Freemont High School split the prize for scratching off the most tickets – both scratched 200 tickets. But everyone walked away a winner, and all schools were thrilled to participate. 

The schools still get to take back almost 2,400 unscratched tickets, under which may be hundreds or even thousands more.  

The Idaho Lottery hosts this charity event all over the state to help Idaho’s public schools raise additional funds. 

The Lottery has already conducted several Scratch for Schools events throughout Idaho. In fact, when Kuna High School scratched their tickets last year, they uncovered the top prize of $1,000 – in addition to nearly $200 in smaller cash prizes! And just last month, Harrison Elementary school in Twin Falls also uncovered the top prize of $1000.
