Idaho Lottery Director Anderson Named Treasurer
of National Lottery Association
Boise – After back-to back successful years leading the Idaho Lottery to two consecutive recording-breaking dividends, Director Jeff Anderson has gained national recognition from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) by accepting an appointment as Treasurer.
“This is a tremendous honor and privilege. I look forward to a leadership role in our national association and to representing the interests of Idaho by sharing Idaho’s successes with a national audience,” commented Anderson on the recent appointment. “One of our goals is to make the Idaho Lottery one of the highest performing jurisdictions in North America. Through my current work on the NASPL Executive Committee, I can certainly attest to our progress in fulfilling that vision.”
NASPL was created in 1971 and now consists of 51 state and provincial lotteries stretching from the U.S. Virgin Islands to western Canada. Idaho became a member in 1989 when Lottery operations began. NASPL is a non-profit association of member Lotteries in North America.
It was created to provide educational opportunities for its members to address and improve the unique business of Lottery operations.
For the past year, in addition to his responsibilities directing the Idaho Lottery, Anderson has served as the NASPL Region IV Director representing the interests of Idaho along with the lotteries of nine other western states, British Columbia, Western Canada, and Mexico.
“With two years of experience, this appointment by our President John Musgrave (West Virginia’s Lottery Director) speaks very highly of Jeff’s abilities and dedication to the Lottery industry,” said David Gale, NASPL Executive Director. “This appointment places him on track to become a future president of the organization.”
Utilizing the resources available from NASPL has helped turn game ideas and program enhancements at the Idaho Lottery from possibilities into profitable realities. During Anderson’s tenure at the Idaho Lottery, sales have grown nearly 7% and the annual dividend for Idaho’s Public Schools and the Permanent Building Fund has increased by almost $2 million.
“As a mature enterprise, innovations are necessary to keep games fresh, exciting, and fun. We continue to responsibly strive to provide loyal players with new services, and to improve economic opportunities for our statewide retail partners,” added Anderson on Idaho’s success.
Such recent innovations begun by Anderson include the introduction of new games like Hot Lotto Sizzler and the annual Idaho$1,000,000 Raffle. The Idaho Lottery was also the first Lottery in North America to offers its players a true rewards program through its VIP Club as well as offering the first ScratchTM game where players could donate their prize winnings on the Special Olympics World Winter Games ticket.
For the success of a state like Idaho to take on national prominence speaks directly to the Lottery’s underlying operating philosophy. “Our adherence to preserving the security and integrity of our games has maintained public confidence in the Idaho Lottery. It is tantamount to our success,” said Anderson. “This opportunity will allow me to help guide our national association while showcasing the quality of Idaho’s program on a national scale.”
Anderson will continue to serve as the Idaho Lottery Director while he fulfills his responsibilities as Treasurer on the NASPL Executive Committee.
