Powerball Jackpot Reaches Boiling Point at $212 Million!

(Boise, ID) -- 212 degrees is the point at which water boils. $212 million is the point at which Powerball excitement heats up, and it’s also the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

The Multi-State Lottery Association announced that stronger than expected sales pushed up the jackpot. MUSL issued the new jackpot after finding the existing estimate is likely to be surpassed. The cash option for the drawing is an estimated $110.3 million.

This is currently the largest lottery jackpot in the world, and $212 million would rank sixth largest Powerball jackpot ever won. The run started with the drawing on March 17; Saturday’s draw will be the 16th consecutive draw for this jackpot run.

“When the jackpot gets this high it’s important to remind everyone what the odds are of winning,” says Idaho Lottery Director Roger Simmons. “Don’t bet the farm. Remember, it’s fun to play and fun to dream, but play responsibly. You can create just as many ‘what if’ scenarios for a dollar as you can for $100.”

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners, there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels
