Schools Nab Thousands of Dollars at Lottery’s Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools! 

Boise – 3…2…1…SCRATCH! Representatives from twenty-six Boise area schools whooped, roared and scratched Idaho Lottery tickets. Excitement was in the air as each school tackled hundreds of tickets for the chance to win a ton of loot. 

The Idaho Lottery hosted the Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools event, a fundraiser for public schools on Saturday April 24, 2004, in the Hall of Fame at Boise State University. 

It was a sight to behold. During the five-minutes of mad scratching, each school was given 300 scratch tickets. All schools got to keep the money on their tickets, and prizes were awarded to the teams that scratched the most tickets and the most total dollar amount. 1,000 extra tickets to the winner and 500 to the runner up in each category. Plus each school got to take back any remaining unscratched tickets. 

Seven Oaks Elementary received the prize for highest total amount with $202 uncovered. Silver Sage Elementary came in second with $194. Hawthorne Elementary was the first school ever to scratch all 300 tickets, so they won the prize of 1,000 extra tickets for scratching the most. Eagle High School came in second for uncovering 280. More than $3,700 was revealed and given away at the event. Everyone walked away a winner, and all schools were thrilled to participate. 

The Lottery conducts Jim Bruce Scratch for Schools events all over the state. The next events will be April 30 in Coeur d’Alene and May 1 in Lewiston.
