Northern Idaho is prone to having very snowy winters. The long, cold, dark nights can play a major factor in the deterioration of sidewalks and pathways across the North Idaho College (NIC) campus in Coeur d’Alene. These conditions, hazardous as they may be, can prove even more challenging for students trying to get class on time during these adverse conditions.

During Fiscal Year 2020, the Idaho Permanent Building Fund through the Idaho Division of Public Works used a portion of the funds generated by the Idaho Lottery to make much needed safety repairs to the sidewalks campus wide. Now, all 6,900 plus students who are enrolled at NIC, the 471 faculty members, and the school’s 300 employees have the opportunity to safely make it to class and work on those snowy days.

On September 17, we at the Idaho Lottery will take a moment to celebrate this simple, but vitally important improvements to the NIC campus. For all the students, the faculty, employees, and members of the Coeur d’Alene community who visit the NIC campus, Happy Fab Campus Walkway Replacement Day!
