Idaho Lottery Delivers $8,200 in Supplies and Books to Bonner County High Schools

The Idaho Lottery made some winter-time visits to high schools in Bonner County in February as part of their Classroom Wishlist program, delivering much needed supplies, books, and resources for teachers during the current school year.

At Sandpoint High School, the Idaho Lottery made two deliveries. The first was to Derek Dickinson for a tech upgrade to the school’s library. “One of my main jobs is to revamp our library to make it a usable and appealing space for students,” said Dickinson. To start, the school will receive a 3D printer, mobile charging stations, and a Smart TV from the Lottery.

The second delivery at Sandpoint High School went to Allison Sletager, one of the school’s English teachers. Sletager is creating an in-classroom library and is receiving organizational materials as well as new books. “I want to create a classroom library so that students can check out novels directly from me,” said Sletager. “I am hoping to instill a love of learning and reading in my students. I would love to have novels readily available to them.”

The total deliveries to Sandpoint High School were over $3,000.

The Lottery team also delivered much needed supplies and equipment to Priest River Lamanna High School for their science programs. “Labs have been running off the fumes of previous years and we are fast approaching a year with little to no labs in the science department,” said science teacher Kimberly Colombini. “With a very tight budget, we’ve gotten creative in finding materials to support our Forestry, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy Physiology and our new Forensic Science class.”

The Idaho Lottery delivered over $5,100 in science supplies. “With this wish list donation, our science department will be able to provide our students with real world, applicable, hands-on learning,” added Colombini.

The Idaho Lottery was created to benefit public education in Idaho. The Idaho Lottery’s Classroom Wishlist program is an additional way the Lottery supports its mission. This program awards $10,000 a month, every month, to teachers working on creative classroom and education solutions for their students.
