The holidays are known for being the wonderful time of the year, but for one Kimberly woman, the holiday season was even merrier and bright!

Tessie Hine was visiting family in the Treasure Valley and stopped at the Chevron off I-84 in east Boise for candy bar, soda, and a scratch ticket to treat herself. The ticket she bought was a Purple 777 ticket. She played it once she got home.

“I saw a purple 7 symbol and thought, wow, I’ve won $7. Then another 7 and another, and I thought I’d won $77. Cool. Then there were more sevens, they kept coming, until I had seven of them. That’s when I thought this can’t be real, this isn’t happening,” described Tessie on her winning experience.

Even when she was claiming her top prize of $57,777 at Lottery Offices, her mother didn’t believe her during a video phone call. It wasn’t until the Lottery Public Relations Specialist stepped in with the winning souvenir check and finally convinced her to believe that miracles do happen during the holidays.

Tessie plans to buy herself a Rumba for her house with her winnings before adding, “Well, it is the time of year when there are great clearance sales!”
