Coeur d’Alene Man Claims $100,000 Powerball Ticket

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISE, Idaho – Luck from Idaho’s favorite game, Powerball, has smiled favorably on a long-time Idaho resident from Coeur d’Alene. Dennis Faulstich claimed a $100,000 prize he won from the Powerball draw held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

A regular player, especially when the Powerball jackpot is big, Faulstich bought his winning ticket from the Beverage Shack on 4th Street in Coeur d’Alene, his favorite retail location.

“I play Powerball because it makes a lot of money for the school systems in Idaho,” said Faulstich. “Most of the time I don’t match any numbers, but this time I got almost all of them.”

Faulstich’s ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball. Since August, all Powerball tickets in Idaho include PowerPlay, which mulitplies non-jackpot winnings by the number selected for the draw. That number on that Wednesday night was 2. Faulstich’s winning prize of $50,000 automatically doubled and became $100,000.

Even though he knew he had a $100,000 winner on Powerball, when he began his trip to Boise to claim his prize, he stopped by the Beverage Shack to have them check his ticket and have a little fun.

“I asked them to check the ticket for me, just to see how they’d react,” said Faulstich. “They scanned it and were shocked, then told me I needed to go to Boise. I told them that was where I was headed!”

For selling the winning Powerball ticket, Beverage Shack in Coeur d’Alene receives a bonus of $10,000 from the Idaho Lottery.

Thirty years ago, Idaho joined thirteen states and the District of Columbia in creating Powerball. Sales from Idaho’s favorite game, Powerball, are nearly $1 billion since 1992.

The estimated jackpot for tonight’s Powerball draw is $91 million.
