BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Last Friday the 13th turned out to be a very lucky day for one Kuna woman. And the luckiest store in Idaho ÔÇô the Jacksons at Orchard and I-84 - delivered on its claim. Amanda Scott claimed the first $200,000 prize on the Idaho Lottery's Scratch GameTM Christmas Countdown from a ticket she purchased just a couple of hours before an Idaho Lottery radio promotion at Idaho's luckiest store.
"I listen to KIZN 92.3 all the time. I had heard all week about the Lottery's promotion on Friday the 13th at the Jacksons store up by the freeway that day," explained Scott. "I was spreading some holiday cheer with a client of mine across the street and saw the store, so I went in. I bought two Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle tickets and then the Christmas Countdown Scratch ticket. Turns out I got some holiday cheer for me, too!"
A couple of hours later, the Idaho Lottery and KIZN 92.3, a Cumulus Station, hosted a Friday the 13th promotion at the same Jacksons location.
"This is perhaps one of the most famous stores in Idaho," said David Workman, Idaho Lottery Public Information Specialist. "Historically, this store has sold two jackpot winners on Powerball. It seemed only natural that we visit the store on Friday the 13th for a promotion. It is unbelievably remarkable that this same store sold the top prize winning ticket of $200,000 on that particular day."
Scott carried her scratch ticket with her and did not play it until Saturday when she discovered she had a $200,000 winner.
"That led to a couple of sleepless nights," admitted Scott, who plans to use her winnings to get a new car, pay down some bills, and live a little bit more comfortably. Scott also made a contribution to KIZN┬┤s "keep kids warm" campaign.
For their part in selling the winning ticket, Jacksons receives a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $20,000.
