BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô Idaho's first new million dollar winning ticket since Powerball changed in January was claimed this morning. Bill Edson of Twin Falls, along with his brother Mike Edson from Salt Lake City, claimed the $1,000,000 Powerball winner from the Saturday, February 11, 2012 draw at Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise. Their ticket matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number itself.

ÔÇï"At first I didn't think I had won anything at all because I didn't match the Powerball," said Bill on his winning experience. "When I saw all the news about the million dollar winner, I thought a lot of those numbers looked very familiar, so I dug the paper out of recycling and started matching the numbers up. I couldn't believe it!"

ÔÇïThe Edsons┬┤ winning ticket is the first $1,000,000 winner in Idaho since the "match 5" prize level was changed on January 15, 2012. Previously the prize for matching the first five numbers was $200,000. With the new changes, the Edsons' winning ticket becomes Idaho's 32nd million dollar winner to be claimed since the Lottery was created in 1989.

The brothers plan to split their winnings. The winning ticket was sold at the Stinker Store located at 880 W. Shoshone in Twin Falls. For their part in selling the winning ticket, Stinker Stores will receive a bonus of $20,000 from the Idaho Lottery.ÔÇï
