BOISE, Idaho ÔÇô It's the biggest Lottery game launch in Idaho since Powerball began in April 1992. At every Lottery retail location across Idaho, Mega Millions with Megaplier sales started morning. Mega Millions with Megaplier is a big jackpot game like Powerball, except with draws on Tuesday and Friday nights. Mega Millions has the distinction of holding the United States record for the largest single Lottery jackpot at $390 million on March 6, 2007.
"Always big just got bigger for our Idaho players," said Idaho Lottery Director, Jeff Anderson. "Players will now have four chances a week to win an eight-figure or higher jackpot from one of the two big games."
Powerball will remain in the Idaho Lottery line-up with draws on Wednesday and Saturday nights. The current jackpot for Powerball is $107 million.
Mega Millions with Megaplier draws are on Tuesday and Friday nights. The estimated jackpot for Tuesday night's Mega Millions with Megaplier draw is $12 million.
Just like Powerball, when players match all five numbers and the Mega Ball, they win the jackpot. "The Megaplier is a lot like PowerPlay on Powerball," added Anderson. "For $1, it's an easy way for players to increase their non-jackpot winnings up to $1 million."
Created in 1996, Mega Millions was previously played in only 12 state Lotteries. Players can learn more about Mega Millions with Megaplier and how to play the game by visiting the Idaho Lottery's How to Play network at idaholottery.com.
"With two big jackpot games drawing a total of four nights a week, we remind our players to play responsibly, to play what they can afford, and not go overboard," said Anderson.
