New Year’s Day Powerball Jackpot Increased to Half-a-Billion Dollars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISE, Idaho – The jackpot for Idaho’s favorite game, Powerball, has been increased to $500,000,000 for a New Year’s Day draw this Saturday night.

“Powerball is Idaho’s favorite game for a reason. In Idaho, we’ve seen a huge increase in Powerball play in the last week. More play leads to big jackpot increases,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “We encourage everyone who wants to win to do so responsibly, but it only takes one ticket to win. Only play what you can afford, don’t go overboard.”

The Idaho Lottery is a founding member of the Powerball game. Thirteen other states and the District of Columbia joined Idaho in 1992 to create what has become the biggest game in the world.

No other single game has brought as much excitement or made as many millionaires as Powerball has for Idaho since the first ticket was sold on April 19, 1992.

Players wanting to test their New Year’s luck have until 7:55 pm MT on Saturday, January 1, 2022 to purchase a Powerball ticket from an authorized Idaho Lottery retailer.
