Priest River Man Wins $75,000 from "The Big Spin"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISE, Idaho – The way Lonnie Dahl sees it, the good Lord is looking out for him. Twenty years ago, Dahl moved to Idaho in search of a fresh start on life. He got married and settled in Priest River. He told his wife that one day he was going to win the Lottery. That day is today.

Dahl is the first jackpot winner of the Lottery’s newest Scratch Game The Big Spin. His winning ticket, purchased from Whitley Oil Exxon in Priest River, earned him a trip to Boise to spin the Lottery’s Big Spin Wheel during a public event at Boise Towne Square. A crowd of 100 people watched the event unfold, including his wife, son, and the family’s newest dog.

Full of energy, Dahl described what happened when he learned he was the first big winner.

“I scanned the ticket at Super 1 Foods in Old Town. I was so excited that I got the Big Spin, I ran through the store whooping and hollering and high fiving everyone!” said Dahl during the event at Boise Towne Square before adding, “I’m so excited, I couldn’t sleep last night.”

During the event, Dahl became the first Idaho Lottery player to spin the Big Wheel that has been on display at Boise Towne Square since the first part of July. His excitement paid off, as Dahl won $75,000 when the wheel came to rest on the prize.

“This is a real blessing for me and my family,” said an emotional Dahl about his winnings. “Our roof needs a lot of repairs and that’s what we’re going to do. Thank you.”

For selling the winning ticket, Whitley Oil Exxon also benefitted from Dahl’s Big Spin, taking home a 10% bonus from the Idaho Lottery worth $7,500.
