Wish Delivered: Classroom Supplies and Books

Teacher Larinda Ferreira says "Like many teachers, I spend my own money on classroom supplies because I want every child to feel supported and successful. However, I cannot provide everything my students need on my own. The items I am requesting are not extras—they are essential tools that will directly improve learning. Wobble stools will give students a healthy way to move while learning. Many of my students struggle to sit still for long periods, and flexible seating helps them stay focused, engaged, and ready to participate. Math manipulatives are especially important because many of my students are below grade level in math. Hands-on tools help children see and build mathematical concepts in a concrete way, which strengthens understanding and builds confidence. "

Wish Delivered: Titanic project supplies

Teacher Sarah Walsh says "Imagine walking into a classroom where students step back in time to 1912, boarding the Titanic through books, artifacts, hands-on projects, and immersive experiences. My third-grade students will not simply learn about history—they will experience it. Through historical fiction and nonfiction texts, primary-source materials, engineering challenges, research projects, and creative dioramas, students will develop literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while exploring one of history's most fascinating events. The requested materials will help transform our classroom into an interactive learning environment where curiosity drives learning and every student has the opportunity to connect with history in a meaningful way. Students will read, write, investigate, create, and collaborate as they explore the stories of the Titanic and the people whose lives were forever changed by its voyage. By bringing history to life through hands-on, cross-curricular learning, these resources will inspire a love of reading, deepen student engagement, and create unforgettable learning experiences that students will remember long after they leave third grade. These materials will benefit not only this year's students but future classes for years to come."

Wish Delivered: Books

Teacher Megan Jordan says "Books will transform the lives of our Washington Elementary students. The ability to read is a gift that all children deserve and exposing students to high quality books is an essential part of my job as a reading intervention teacher. Hooking reluctant readers with a high interest book can be the spark needed to help a child become an avid reader. I will never forget when one of my second grade students discovered “Frog and Toad.” Her reading ability grew over a grade level in three months! Finding that “just right” book set was all that it took to instill a love of reading. Hopefully this series of books will ignite her desire to become a lifelong reader!"

School: Valley View Elementary

Wish Delivered: Books

Teacher Shelly Hoisington says "Bringing our school community together through reading is a valuable and meaningful tradition at Valley View. For the past three years, we have implemented a schoolwide reading program that encourages families, students, and staff to share a common reading experience. Each Valley View family receives a copy of the selected book, along with a reading schedule and discussion questions designed to support meaningful conversations at home. As families read together, classrooms celebrate the book through daily literacy activities, cross-curricular lessons, and engaging discussions that connect students to the story and to one another."
